How Spring 2025 Trends Transform into Perfect Racewear
Tips for a Stylish Race Day:
Sunday, May 25th, marks a special milestone for me as I celebrate my 5th anniversary helping Kelso Racecourse, known as Britain’s friendliest racecourse, with their Annual Ladies Day Event. This year, we’re excited to bring back the Colourful Edit Catwalk featuring an all-female lineup of hosts, ensuring a safe, stylish, and confident atmosphere as we celebrate the art of racing fashion.
During the event, attendees will have the chance to be spotted, for coveted titles such as ‘Queen of Style,’ ‘Best Dressed Male,’ and ‘Best Dressed Couple.’ In keeping with our commitment to sustainable fashion, we’ve decided to merge the ‘Queen of Style’ category with ‘Best Dressed Vintage.’ This blend not only highlights the importance of sustainability in our fashion choices but also allows attendees to showcase their unique style through vintage finds.
Join us for a day filled with excitement, elegance, and eco-consciousness as we play our part in redefining race day fashion!
Petal Pink: A Soft and Feminine Touch
Pink is the colour of the season, making it a perfect choice for race day. A tailored petal pink suit can make a bold statement while remaining sophisticated. Alternatively, a petal pink midi dress with ruffles and a cinched waist can enhance your silhouette beautifully. Complete the look with nude heels and delicate gold/silver jewellery for an effortlessly feminine vibe.
Bohemian Dreams: Effortlessly Chic for the Races
The bohemian aesthetic is all about flowing fabrics and free-spirited silhouettes. For race day, consider a maxi dress adorned with floral patterns or lace details. Pair it with a wide-brimmed hat and oversized sunglasses to create a laid-back yet elegant look. Opt for comfortable, strappy sandals to ensure you can walk around the venue with ease. Add a statement clutch made from natural materials to keep your essentials stylishly contained.
Pistachio is Popping: Fresh Accents to Brighten Your Outfit
Incorporate pops of pistachio into your racewear for a refreshing touch. Consider a pistachio-coloured dress or a statement top paired with neutral bottoms. If you prefer a more understated approach, opt for pistachio accessories like a belt, handbag, or shoes that can elevate an otherwise simple outfit. This trendy colour is sure to make you stand out in a sea of traditional racewear.
Slim-Cut: Tailored for Elegance
Slim-cut trousers are back (did they ever go away?) and can be a great alternative to dresses on race day. Pair them with a luxurious blouse or a structured blazer for a sleek and polished outfit. Choose high-waisted styles to elongate your legs, and don’t forget to wear chic heels to elevate your look. A clutch in a contrasting color can add a pop of interest while keeping your essentials stylish.
Accessorise Irresponsibly: Make a Statement
I am LOVING this trend (clearly!) Race day is the perfect opportunity to embrace excessive accessorisation. Layer statement necklaces, wear oversized earrings, or add a collection of bangles to your outfit. Consider vintage or handmade pieces from local artisans (hello) to give your look a unique twist. Don’t forget a stylish hat or fascinator to complete your ensemble; they’re practically a race day requirement!
Prep School Revival: Classic with a Modern Twist
The prep school trend can be adapted beautifully for race day. A tailored blazer over a crisp, white shirt paired with a pleated midi skirt can create a sophisticated yet youthful look. The new workwear trend can be translated into stylish race day attire by suiting and booting your outfit, you could even add a tie into the mix. We saw a few vintage numbers last year which were classy and elegant. Opt for loafers or chic ankle boots for footwear, and accessorise with a structured handbag and a silk scarf for a touch of elegance.
Coastal Cool: Breezy Vibes for Race Day
Channeling coastal cool is ideal for a sunny race day. Although, I’m not sure you would class Scotland as the sunshine capital! Think light linen trousers paired with a breezy, oversized shirt or a stylish jumpsuit in soft, beachy colors. Add a straw tote and espadrilles to complete the laid-back look. A pair of aviator sunglasses can provide that perfect finishing touch while keeping you shielded from the sun
